A challenge for the girl who will wear almost anything.
So I watched this movie, “Ladies and Gentleman the Fabulous Stains” which kept my attention based on the leading ladies outfits. Most of them are centered around a pair of black tights and french cut black briefs. That is all she wears on the bottom half not a touch of fabric more. I was in love right away with these fearless outfits. However I feel my bottom half might not be ready for this mini fabric situation. Hopefully these pictures will give me some motivation to get down to “fighting weight” or “outfitting weight” in my case. I’m crossing my fingers starting now*
Not a usual post for me but I just had to share. This was left on the wind shield of my car the other day. It is an index card colored hot pink on one side with a highlighter and then in black marker these words were written. I was pretty creeped out when I read it but saved it anyway. I’m sure it was just some crazy person wondering the streets and not for me specifically but it still made me think. It made me feel kind of good as sad as that sounds.
When one wakes up on time on a Monday it’s cause for a celebration. By celebration I of course mean it’s time for a cute outfit. Today is such a Monday for me. I have been wearing tight bottoms for months now and decided that I would pull the old wide leg, high waist jeans out of the closet. I took the cuffs down yesterday so the inseam would be an exciting 37”. Next I pulled a little pitch fork plaid out of the closet, which I made short sleeved and took the sides in a bit. On top went a little white military jacket (not in the picture) to lighten the mood a bit. As a result I had quite a nice Monday, it just goes to show an outfit can make the day bright. Even if it’s raining*
It seems everywhere I look these days I’m seeing this men’s PJ trend. Pretty much every magazine I picked up in the last month has a huge spread on it. Silky vintage men’s PJ’s worn my beautiful ladies. I really love the way this look is posh and cozy all at the same time. Plus with the weather heating up (soon I hope) the breathable fabrics and soft prints are perfect. These men’s pieces are adding a, much needed, edge to the usual floral and pastel prints of spring. I will be on the look out for the perfect men’s PJ top and when I find it you all will be the first to know. In the mean time sweet dreams to all….
So on this Friday I will be attending a 30th Birthday for a good friend of mine. Seeing as she has always been one of my favorite party friends I figured I would wear a party outfit! Sequins scream party and all of you know it. Since it is a house party I figured I would cool it down with a basic white tee basic black tights. I wore the strappy black plat forms because they are easy to walk in, they are high, and the boyf likes them. Basically a triple threat. Top it off with an oversized mens blazer and a fur if it gets cold and TA DA! A good night guaranteed!
As I told you all I feel like wearing these days are tights and leggings. The ladder has been more challenging to to find. Being a taller lady (five foot eleven to be exact) the leggings at American Apparel are simply not long enough. The inseam on the AA leggings must be no longer than 28 inches! What I need is about 33 or 36 inches if I want them to bunch at the bottom (which I have yet to find.) I have however found that Forever21 has leggings that are usually about 33 inches in the inseam department. Most of the leggings there are super affordable as well $6.50 to $22.50. So even if I only wear them twice it doesn’t matter. But with the variety of colors and patterns they have you will be wanting to wear them every day. Even my just rolled out of bed look is pulled together with these shiny bronze leggings. They just make me want to dance, dance, dance!!!
I really don’t like people telling what to wear, and so don’t really feel to good telling others what to wear. But I do have to tell you all one item not to wear, at least not in public. Sweat pants my friends sweat pants. Or sweat suits equally as bad if you ask me. I mean really ladies and gents. If you are rolling around your area or going shopping in sweat pants please stop. It looks so sloppy. They don’t flatter any body shape and as comfortable as they may be, around your house, they are not appropriate for public wear. Wearing sweat pants out and about is like screaming at the top of your lungs, “I’ve given up on life!” So please my friends pull yourselves together and change out of those cozy pants before you leave the house. I promise you will feel better about your day as soon as you do.
Usually I would not even bat an eye at the J.Crew web site but this is worth at least to looks. Silver, shiny, and with a little floral bit at top. I’m going to start trying to branch out a little this year and it will start when I own this dress!
I’m very sorry I was unable to post yesterday, as it was love town day. Gross I know but unavoidable. I would like to take this chance however to share with you the beautiful shoes I received from my lovey. He really outdid himself and I am very lucky to be his lady. Both of these shoes were bought at Nordstroms, I mean really how could you go wrong. The First pair are black and white shiny platforms by BCBG Girls. They are so simple and yet so fabulous I almost cried (don’t worry I held it in.) The second pair are faux snake skin with a gold zipper up the front and are made by Jessica Simpson Shoes. Usually her name would be a deal breaker, however the her shoe line is surprisingly beautiful. Most of the line looks nothing like that sorry excuse for a women. Please don’t judge but I love these shoes. Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines day! xoxoxo!
So since my work outfit was not anything earth shaking, I have posted my evening outfit! The skirt is a vintage ESCADA leather skirt I got a Good Will for only $6.99! The tank is from Urban Outfitters from last year. The stockings and the sweater are also from Urban Outfitters. I’m feeling good about it all so let’s hope my night follows in toe!
If I had one wish for a gift, this would be it! I really want, no, really need is a feathered headdress. Maybe not as big as the ones in these photos but definitely similar. The perfect color combo would be black, white, orange, yellow, and of course turquoise. One day it will be mine even if I have to make one myself!
Usually in my beautiful little city the weather is quite fair. This year however, we have gotten more snow than I have ever seen here. Although beautiful at first I for one am quite over the whole thing. Besides making transportation a nightmare I can’t wear any of my cute open-air shoes. I have been itching to wear my vintage floral carved platforms since last spring. I found these beauties at the Sunday Freemont flea market. They are only a size eight but I was determined to make them work no matter what. But to my delight I didn’t even have to try, they fit perfect! The shoes are made of wood and have a light floral pattern carved into them. The cut out platform heel makes them truly unique. In the heel there is a faint brand that just says Mexico. But in order to wear them I need the weather to dry up and the temp to climb to about 70. As soon as this happens I will be breaking these babies out, probably with a solid little mini dress. Can’t wait!
Although this film might seem dorky and mushy, I actually found some good outfitting ideas. Baby the main character is so awkward it kind of hurts and in the beginning dresses like a half-wit. But as the story develops so does my interest in the clothes. There are crop tops galore!!!!!! Yes crop tops. Most of the tops are tight and fitted to the body with a vintage appeal (since the movie is old). Also the color palette they used for the clothes is perfect since spring is coming our way. I have some crop tops but all of my current ones are loose and hang oversized. So in the coming weeks I will be looking for a fitted top and when I find it you all will be the first to see it.
Although I had no high hopes for my weekend trip to Spo-Compton I must tell you I was pleasantly surprised. Never in a million years did I expect to find some fashion treasures east of the mountains. My boyf has the sweetest mother and this weekend she very generously gifted me 2 vintage mink wraps. The wraps were given to her by her aunt a long time ago. Fur isn’t really her thing so she stored them away but never wore them. On the other hand it is most definitely one of my weaknesses. One is a large shoulder wrap in a light brown hue and the second is a smaller two piece twisted scarf situation. Inside the label it says it’s from Wisconsin and the date is 1946. I absolutely love them! I wore the two piece twisted one all day Saturday. When I find the right outfit for the large shoulder one I will be sure to post it.
Back in my school days I had a big thing for dressing up just a bit more on Fridays than any other day of the week. It always made me feel good which usually made the day turn into a good night. I recently decided that I should probably restart this little tradition in order to make the Friday happy hour come more quickly. So each Friday I will be posting what I wore to work. Today’s focus is my favorite black jumper. It’s made by Cheap Monday and has detachable straps. To spice it up a bit I took off the straps and added a tan alligator belt I got at a thrift store for $3. However on this particular Friday there will be no happy hour but a 6 hour drive to Spo-Compton (Spokane, WA) instead. I will attempt to post from there but am not making any promises. Wish me luck!
p.s. Please excuse the face I had a rough commute home from work. Basically no one knows how to drive!!!
A couple of weeks ago the boyf and I traveled down to Portland, OR for the weekend. I had never spent much time in this fair city and was excited to explore the shops. We were down there on a bit of business so I knew I would have to sneak the shopping in. While waiting for a table at the Screen Door for brunch, we strolled down the side streets. Our friend Kelly pointed out a cute little vintage shop, which I believe is called Lady Luck. In the window I noticed a huge feathered headdress. I was sold!
As I browsed around, I realized I was in love. The shop was loaded with great vintage finds at reasonable prices. I picked up a 70’s knitted cape, a Kurt Cobain mini dress, and a sheer red printed 80’s dress. Thinking I was done I headed to the counter. While the, cute as a button, girl behind the counter rang me up I glanced at the jewelry in the register case. A little something caught my eye, feathers, leather, and an elk! I couldn’t believe it. I asked the girl to take the necklace out of the case for me, still barely believing my eyes. As I held the necklace in my hands my little heart melted. I turned over the tag expecting the worst. At only $28 it was a must have and also the new love of my life. To whoever created the piece, big thanks, you’ve made me the happiest girl on the whole west coast.
Portland you’ve warmed my heart and I hope to return soon!
As I looked through my tops today I realized something shocking. Every top I have is black or white! When did this happen? I’m usually the queen of color. But lately while browsing through shops only these basics have been standing out to me. A white tee or tank seems to go with every outfit that pops into my head. My new favorite is the Unisex Viscose Sexuali tank from American Apparel. It goes perfectly over leggings and is just the right amount of sheer. It hangs elegantly off the body and “works” like not many basics can. Boy or girl, it’s a must have my darlings!
