Tomorrow I have a pretty big Monday if you will. Work and personal life are both contributing factors, which I will not go into. The point is my anxiety is kicking in full force. The only way I know how to settle this is to plan my outfits in advance, kind of weird but that’s me. So in my hunt for the perfect Monday outfit I found the perfect accessory. A beautiful necklace that I got at a cute boutique called Moksha. The colors are punchy and the shape is eye catching. I will let you know how it all goes tomorrow. Wish me luck!
Alexa Chung has fast become my fave “it” girl right now. As a style icon and just over all beautiful girl. She is so hip I can barely stand it. These are some photos I found of her online. She also regularly graces the pages of all the top fashion magazines. She has an effortless style that makes you just want to be her pal. She always has on amazing outfits and I just wanted to take a min to share them with you all :)
For the first time in a long while, I have gotten up in enough time to get my clothes and all my makeup on before I leave for work every day this week. A small success but a very important one. Today I even lined my eyes with a purple/pink eye shadow. I know I really went all out (sarcastic tone.) I also wore my favorite “By Corpus” jeans, a vintage cami from my Metros (that’s what I call my mom, sometimes Peetros), a tuxedo vest, and my most comfortable cowboy boots. I paid $30 for these boots 5 years ago at Red Light (a vintage store with two locations in Seattle) and have worn them right through the soles twice. Those have been my most trusted work boots for a long time and will continue to be a staple for years to come. Nothing beats a good pair of cowboy boots :)
These are three of my favorite fashion books. I flip through the pages time and time again, always inspired and always amused. Over the years the outfits might become outdated but the artistic vision of the people in the pictures will not. “Misshapes” is great for party outfits and makeup ideas. “What I wore today” is perfect for everyday wear and some cute work outfits. And “Street” is a nice reminder that even though you might live across the world from someone fashion is universal. So go out a get a copy of these books. You won’t be disappointed, promise.
Being a girl who was born and raised in and around Seattle in the 90’s, it is safe to say I was more than excited to see 90’s fashion coming back. Reminder: I’m also in to really ugly and sort of tragic clothes. However, I’m having a hard time working these “grunge” looks into my day to day. It all feels fairly dark for spring/summer. Black tights really just don’t feel like 70 degree weather to me. Flannels also feel a bit too cold weather for me. In order to get the look with out over heating I think I will have to start with some floral dresses. Since I have very few of these in my closet I will have to start collecting them. Stay tuned to see what I find. In the mean time some pics from teen vogue to get you in the mood.
Happy Memorial Day to all!!!!! I hope you all are having as nice of a day as me. The boyf and I took a nice stroll around the neighborhood and then made tacos. Plus for once in my life we have had a beautiful weekend here in Seattle, just over 70 degrees everyday. Just the type of weather that calls for a light weight summer dress and some shades. I added my new fringe bag into the mix for just the right amount of edge. Enjoy the day off because tomorrow it’s back to real life ;)
Outfitting for summer is all about print and colors. Taking inspiration from photos is key for any seasons outfitting. What you should be getting from these photos is a feeling. This feeling is what I try and recreate when I get dressed in the morning. Weird but effective.
This has, so far, been one of the most pleasantly busy weekends this year. Each day has just gone so smoothly I can barely believe it. My friend Squillie, her boyf and I went to the Folk Life Festival (hippie fest) which happens every year near where we live. The festival has music, food, and many booths selling clothes and gems. Each year I go, despite the crowds, to get some strawberry short cake and browse the booths. This year I was lucky to find a scarf for $5 and a long tunic dress situation. Which I wore today to the local sunday flea market and then out for Sunday bloody mary’s. With such a successful weekend so far I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
